Geosynchronous satellite is placed in the geosynchronous orbit with an orbital period matching the Earth's rotation period. These satellites take 24 hours to complete one rotation around the earth. However, the orbital plane for a typical geosynchronous satellite is generally not the equatorial plane.

The communication platforms based on the communication with the help of these satellites are know. Cryogenics is the study of the production and behaviour of materials at extremely low temperatures below degree Centigrade to lift and place the heavier objects in space.

Description: Cryogenic stage is technically a much more complexed system with respect to solid or liquid prop. In astronomical terms, perturbation is the complex motion observed in a massive body that is subjected to forces other than the gravitational pull by another single, massive body. Other forces can include a third body force, resistance caused by another body, as from an atmosphere, and the off-centre attraction of an oblate body.

Description: Perturbations first began to be studied in order to. These radiant sources were formed approximately twelve billion years ago. Quasar formations take place by collision of galaxies, i. Quasars were foremost identified as red shift sources. It was launched in and is one of the great observatories of NASA. Description: Hubble was created with a need to capture high-resolution images of universe.

It is capable of taking high-resolution images with negligible background light. History: Though the HST launched in , the idea of maki. Heliopause is the outer edge of the heliosphere which acts as the surface of the bubble that surrounds our solar system. The Heliopause is that part of the solar system which is exposed to particles and ions of deep space. Description: Heliopause is the boundary of the heliosphere which is the spherical region around the Sun.

It is filled with solar magnetic fields and solar wind that consists. Solar panels are those devices which are used to absorb the sun's rays and convert them into electricity or heat. Description: A solar panel is actually a collection of solar or photovoltaic cells, which can be used to generate electricity through photovoltaic effect. These cells are arranged in a grid-like pattern on the surface of solar panels. Thus, it may also be described as a set of. This is the primary service area of IRNSS information service to users in India and the region extending up to km from Indian boundary. IRNSS is a constellation of seven satellites in space. Out of these, three are located in the geostationary orbit over the Indian Ocean and the other four in geosynchronous orbits, with the desired inclination and equatorial crossings in two different planes.

IRNSS aims to provide the following services: 1. Restricted Service RS for authorized users. For example defense. It is habitable and the largest artificial satellite that can be seen with the naked eye from Earth. It acts as a factory, observatory and laboratory.

Description: The ISS is made up of different components like solar arrays. Its first component was launched in orbit in with Proton and Soyuz rockets launching it. It is a work station in space for experiments which is capable to hold large number of crew members at a time. Astronauts are transported between the earth and ISS with rockets. Cargo is transported through the Dragon rocket.

It helps individual experiments and research and reduce the need of separate rocket launches and research staff. Research includes material science, weather, natural disaster etc.

Unlike unmanned spacecraft, ISS can send data on demand for the learning purpose of people on earth. This is only possible because of the invariable presence of crew members who replace each other from time to time.

Scientists on earth use data sent by crew members of ISS for research. Jawaharlal Nehru and scientist Vikram Sarabhai, considered amongst the founding fathers of Indian space program. Description: ISRO, by successfully demonstrating its unique and cost-effective technologies, has gained place among the elite space agencies in the world over the years.

The year marked the launch of Rohini, which was the first satellite to be successfully placed in the orbit by SLV-3, an Indian made launch vehicle. Both the rockets have successfully launched several earth observation and communication satellites for India as well as other countries.

Despite being a developing economy with its attendant problems, India has effectively developed space technology and has applied it successfully for its rapid development and today is offering a variety of space services globally. During the formative decade of s, space research was conducted by India mainly with the help of sounding rockets. Space research activities were provided additional fillip with the formation of the Space Commission and the Department of Space by the government of India in In the history of the Indian space programme, 70s were the era of Experimentation during which experimental satellite programmes like Aryabhatta, Bhaskara, Rohini and Apple were conducted. For launching its spacecraft indigenously, India is having a robust launch vehicle programme, which has matured to the state of offering launch services to the outside world. Besides, the setting up of the second cluster of nine Village Resource Centres VRCs was an important ongoing initiative of the Department of Space during the year.

The experience of India, over the past 40 plus years, in developing and operating a space program focused on providing direct societal benefits offers a number of lessons as developing countries across the globe become increasingly involved in space activities. For a space program to be successful in the context of a developing nation, that program must provide tangible benefits to that country and its people and be tied to broader development objectives. These elements become the key attributes of a model that can be applied in other developing countries. The paper concludes by applying the model to two test cases, Kazakhstan and South Africa.
