The field of public health is a lot deeper than many students realize, as it contains a number of different career paths that may appeal to a wide variety of personal interests. Occupational health and environmental health are two such concentrations, and while these subfields do overlap a good deal, they are quite different in terms of their specializations. Occupational health involves the identification and control of workplace risks that have the potential to negatively impact the well-being of professionals in a variety of industries. These risks can be physical, chemical, or psychological in nature, and often change over time, as industrial business practices are constantly evolving.
