File Name: romeo and juliet 1996 script .zip
The classic story of Romeo and Juliet, set in a modern-day city of Verona Beach. The Montagues and Capulets are two feuding families, whose children meet and fall in love. They have to hide their love from the world because they know that their parents will not allow them to be together. There are obstacles on the way, like Juliet's cousin, Tybalt, and Romeo's friend Mercutio, and many fights. But although it is set in modern times, it is still the same timeless story of the "star crossed lovers".
I've seen Shakespeare done in drag. I've seen Prince Hal and Falstaff as homosexuals in Portland. In one grand but doomed gesture, writer-director Baz Luhrmann has made a film that a will dismay any lover of Shakespeare, and b bore anyone lured into the theater by promise of gang wars, MTV-style. This production was a very bad idea. If the whole movie had been done in the breakneck, in-your-face style of the opening scenes, it wouldn't be Shakespeare, but at least it would have been something.

Baz Luhrmann has brought us a wonderful example of proper Shakespearean adaptation. Shakespeare on film has to bring something to the adaptation for it to be justified. This can mean anything from a traditional period retelling that uses the cinematic toolkit to enhance the story in the vein of Zeffirelli's Hamlet or Kurzel's Macbeth all the way to this, a bombastic and fundamental re-skinning of Shakespeare's iconic romance tragedy. Disappointingly, the film conveys a general sense that no-one save the two English Shakespearean heavyweights Pete Postlethwaite and Miriam Margolyes has done quite enough homework on Shakespearean language.
Each generation gets its own Romeo and Juliet, just as Shakespeare himself adapted his original play from an Italian novella and a long tradition of tragic romances before it. The critical reaction was mixed. This is still a story about the impetuousness of young love; about the purity, the tragedy, the violence of love. This is still a story about the relentless tide of fate, of the cosmic inexorability of tragedy.

A huge dark sedan, windows tinted gold, headlights blazing, powers directly for us. Like thunderous, jousting opponents, the cars pass in a deafening cacophony of noise. The truck spirals down an exit ramp and screeches into busy driveway of a large gas station.
William Shakespeare was the greatest dramatic director of his time, and today is still possibly the greatest playwright to ever live. His dramatic works allowed the people of his time to understand what was wrong with society, and enjoy all of the things that were right about it. Within each individual play, the protagonist is relatively easy to pick out. This poem allows readers to visualize a picture of his passionate and spiritual beliefs in life. To begin, Shakespeare is a well-known playwright and a tremendous poet.
